25years ago, a Swiss watch manufacturer had the inspiration to design a beautiful
watch for her Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco, also known as
Grace Kelly.
This watch design, supremely elegant, consisted of a solid platinum case with a mother of pearl face. The hours would be marked by white sparkling diamonds and deep blue sapphires and the strap would be a platinum mesh with a
buckle bearing the coat of arms of the Monaco Principality.
Unfortunately, before the project could commence, tragedy struck. On September 13th 1982, Grace had a terrible car accident and died the next day in France, in a hospital that has been named after her.
The watch was totally forgotten.
Today, a quarter of a century later, inspired by that original concept, WM of Switzerland has painstakingly recreated the elegance and design of that watch that was destined to become a legend. The result is this impressively beautiful jewel of watch making. The Kelly watch from WM of Switzerland is not made entirely of platinum (the price today would be prohibitive), but it has a beautiful bezel ring crafted in solid platinum on which the words “KELLY PLATINUM” are engraved.
Also, following the original drawings, its face is in mother of pearl and is enriched
with 4 genuine diamonds (at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock) and 8 blue sapphires, all
protected by a non-scratch sapphire crystal glass. The crown is finished in
genuine onyx in cabochon cut.
The engine of this watch is an accurate Swiss quartz movement, and the entire watch is water resistant to a depth of up to 20 meters. |
